Celluloses de la Loire acts as a true recycler of waste paper and cardboard, by manufacturing moulded fibre products as part of a cycle contributing to the preservation of natural resources.

From recovery of raw materials through to delivery to the customer, every step is perfectly controlled, using machines designed exclusively by CDL and a culture of operational excellence driven by performance and customer satisfaction.



8-step manufacturing process

  1. Recovery of the material

    To manufacture its packagings, CDL obtains recycled paper and cardboard from users.
    CDL uses a total of 53 000 tons of recycled paper per year and processes 1200 tons of waste per year.

  2. Pulp preparation (pulping)

    This phase corresponds to preparation of the material. From the recycled materials recovered, the fibre is cleaned in a tank (pulper) with plenty of water added to obtain a fibrous pulp.
    In order to save energy and respect the environment, Cellulose de la Loire has developed a closed circuit system with low water consumption.

  3. Moulding

    This is a key step in the manufacture of moulded fibre packaging. The fibrous pulp is then shaped by a suction and pressure process during which the fibre sticks to a sieve to form a wet fabric.
    The moulds are designed and manufactured internally by CDL to offer our customers a fast, reactive and competitive service.

  4. Drying

    The wet fibrous fabric is then dried to become solid and ready for use.
    Cellulose de la Loire (CDL) guarantees high-quality production 24 hours a day 7 days a week, with flexible proprietary technology and an annual capacity of more than 800 million units.

  5. Packaging and palletising

    To reduce the risks of errors and remain competitive, all CDL packaging lines are automated (barcodes, robots), with automatic palletising, under the supervision of our experienced teams.

  6. Transport and logistics

    The Cellulose de la Loire shipping department is reliable and reactive, with anticipated and automated orders (barcodes and ERP/WMS system).

    Shipments are managed in two 8-hour shifts to guarantee all orders are delivered on time. A total of more than 5 million parcels are delivered every year in over 35 countries throughout the world.

  7. User

    100% recyclable packaging. The user makes the selective sorting.
